This poster was produced in 2001 and is aimed at gay men. In the light of studies showing a near doubling of the HIV infection rate in the city, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation unveiled the second phase of a multi-year HIV prevention initiative focused on the assumptions many gay men make about the HIV status of their sexual partners and their subsequent decision not to use condoms. The campaign targeted San Francisco’s gay male community, which continues to be the community at highest risk for HIV infection in the city.
